Steris Design Gallery — compare legacy fleets with current layouts

Visual planning for home-care discharge rooms, dental sterilization suites, and remote monitoring fleets. Use the before/after frames and savings estimator to brief value-analysis committees.

Old fleet — 12 yr average

240 monitors & dental sterilizers · $48K / yr energy & service drag · ~220 t CO2 / yr planning load

Steris current-generation layout

240 endpoints · $39K / yr operating band · ~198 t CO2 / yr with refreshed power and cycle profiles

Estimate your facility's operating savings

Planning calculator only—confirm with a Steris installed-base audit, local utility rates, and autoclave cycle logs.

$8,400/yr saved · 22 t CO2 avoided / yr

Gallery case cards

Three care environments redesigned with Steris planning boards

250-bed hospital

Discharge lift + telemetry corridor refresh saved about $11,200 / yr and ~28 t CO2 in the planning model.

14-operatory dental group

Dirty-to-clean autoclave zoning and drying cabinet layout saved about $3,800 / yr and ~9 t CO2.

140-bed long-term care

Bedside BP / SpO2 cart redesign saved about $5,600 / yr and ~14 t CO2.

Design tension: single-use convenience vs reusable reprocessing burden

Single-use pathway

Disposable dental barriers, monitoring sensors, and many home-care consumables reduce cross-contamination risk and SPD labor. Buyers should still demand unique device identification (UDI), lot recall drills, and waste-stream accounting—sterility assurance level (SAL) 10−6 applies only where a validated terminal process is labeled.

Reusable / reprocessed pathway

Where sterilizers, cassettes, or durable lifts are reusable, reprocessing validation (steam autoclave cycles, ethylene oxide sterilization where labeled, drying completeness) and ISO 17664-style IFU steps become the acceptance criteria. Lower per-procedure cost and waste must be weighed against labor, Spaulding classification risk, and CAPA history.

Steris Design Gallery boards label which SKUs are single-use devices (SUD) versus reusable so infection-control and sustainability committees can review the same packet.

Run the audit on your installed base

Send floor plans or device census and Steris will return a Design Gallery board with layout options, IFU packs, HCPCS notes where applicable, and energy assumptions labeled as estimates.
